motivation for the masses

there is no way to have a perfect life. sure, you can be happy and healthy and feel generally good about your position in the cosmos, but on the all-too-cliche road of life, there are always going to be rough patches and bumps that sneak up on you from seemingly nowhere.

sometimes, it may even seem like your entire life is made up of rough patches, clumsily strung together with enough glimpses of good fortune and contentment to keep you from giving up. but even then, the question shouldn't be "where did these problems come from?" or even "why me?" rather the question should be "ok, so how am i going to fix this?"

of course you can't be positive and logical at all times, and i more than willingly admit that it can be therapeutic to sit down and have a good cry, momentarily giving into the overwhelming unhappiness. but dwelling on the negative aspects day after day is never the best way to handle trouble. feeling sorry for yourself and focusing on your terrible circumstances won't help you feel better, and certainly won't facilitate a coherent frame of mind with which to examine your situation objectively and identify reasonable solutions.

we all go through slumps. we all have bad days. we all reach a point where we're not sure what our next step should be. we've all felt our heads hitting the proverbial brick wall. but in those moments, we should take a deep breath, look around, and inventory all of the great things surrounding us...

people we love. successes we've earned. goals we've met. hobbies we enjoy. dreams we've chased and caught.

we all have tremendous amounts to be thankful for and i think that gets lost all too often in the daily struggles we all endure. we have to face these struggles with attitude and determination, knowing that it will only make the pleasant moments in live shine brighter in comparison.
