over a foot of snow has fallen in my yard over the past day and a half. now, i'm no historian of snow or anything, but doesn't winter usually give us a warm-up storm or two? like a trial run or something? nope, not this year. the first snowfall lasted 2 days (and counting...) and dropped a serious covering over the entire northeast.
