negotiations
it can be so incredibly frustrating when you know how much you're worth, but no one else seems to acknowledge it.
imagine having to fight for what should be rightfully yours... having to list and categorize your accomplishments so that they are in plain view... having to struggle with your own modesty in order to attach numbers to your performance. imagine working tirelessly, day and night, selflessly dedicated to bringing about positive change and unprecedented stability. imagine your private family moments interrupted by cell phone calls and frantic last minute adjustments. imagine consistently placing your own needs in a distant second place to the productivity and contentment of others. imagine giving all you've got, shining where others have struggled and eventually fallen, breaking records and building foundations with your own blood and sweat.
imagine having done all of that, without so much as a pat on the back or a "thanks, man," only to run full-tilt into a brick wall of managerial stinginess. promises and good faith wishes are not worth as much as the bottom line, apparently.
don't worry. it will get better. you are worth it.
