our new bed finally arrived today. after about two months of camping out with our mattress on the floor, we will have an actual bed to sleep in tonight. despite the order being delayed and several rounds of phone tag with the vendor, i'm thrilled with the bed. and the delivery men even came in and set it up for me, which was handy because for some reason our mattress weighs about 3 tons.
after the quick set-up, i thanked the men and walked to the door with them. they drove away and i returned to the bedroom to commence rearranging the furniture. then it hits me that, duh, i had them set the bed up in the same spot it had been in before. not, in fact, where i intended to put the bed now. wonderful.
i moved the surrounding bureaus, and then tried to tackle the bed. after some futile tugging and pushing from various angles, i decided that there was no way i could move it. so then, (having just waved goodbye to two burly professionals willing to assemble the bed frame and reposition the boxspring and mattress), i had to take the whole thing apart by myself, carefully move it to its new position, then somehow finagle the aforementioned 3 ton mattress back on top.
all of this could have been avoided with just a little bit of planning, but that obviously wouldn't have been my way. at least its done now, and i have a beautiful bedroom again. 6:23 PM //
