what's so amazing about really deep thoughts?

what's so amazing about really deep thoughts?

inquiring minds want to know...

i had the strangest lunch yesterday. me and a friend met a girl whom neither of us had seen all at in the four years since high school graduation. after the initial awkwardness, we launch into the obvious catching-up conversation. you know, what have you been up to? how's school? what are you doing after commencement? etc. what do you say in a situation like this? how can you possibly sum up your life in a few quick sentences? so instead of trying, i just say stupid things like, "oh, not much. school's been good. blah... blah...blah..."

since high school, i've gotten married, gone on a honeymoon and celebrated an anniversary. i've worked, i've gone to classes, i've made new friends. i've made the deans list every consecutive semester and am in the top five percent of my class. i've been to concerts and gone to parties and taken road trips. my family has experienced births, deaths, marriages and divorces. i bought a new car, lived in three separate apartments and built and purchased a house.

but no, my response is "oh, not much."
