symbols of gender and power in the portraits of queen elizabeth i:
a "yey me!" and a "phew!" all in one
my senior seminar professor returned our papers today, and i got an a. obviously, i was excited to get an a (that's the "yey me!" part) because its my senior seminar - theoretically the most difficult and cumulative course i will take - and by getting an a i can assume that i've learned something during the past three and a half years. but i was also way relieved (that's the "phew!" part) because i've never had this professor before, so i was understandably nervous having to take this course without any experience with his teaching or grading style. oh - and the course itself is on queen elizabeth... do i have any interest in this topic? nope, not at all, but unless i wanted to spend an entire semester disecting james joyce's ulysses, there was no other choice. but as it turns out, i'm actually enjoying the class. 4:32 PM //
